The basic charge on your Wright-Hennepin (WH) bill is the amount you pay each month, regardless of how much energy you use. This charge helps to cover expenses like safety equipment for our lineworkers. The safety equipment a lineworker is required to have includes:

  • A hard hat
  • Safety glasses
  • Rubber sleeves
  • Insulating rubber gloves
  • Fluorescent fire rated work shirt
  • Climbing belt
  • Insulating line hose
  • Tool bag and tools
  • Fall restraint safety lanyard
  • Climbers
  • Steel toe work boots
  • Handline
  • Hot hoist
  • Insulated wire cutters

This safety equipment is critical to ensure that our lineworkers are able to help keep the lights on and go home safely to their families.

The basic charge also helps pay for poles, wire, transformers, meters and more! All of these aspects are essential to providing you with safe and reliable electricity.
