Wright-Hennepin (WH) recently finished installing and testing the generator at the newly opened Hy-Vee in Maple Grove.
The generator was supplied by WH Generation, a business which resides within WH Holding, the subsidiary business of WH. WH Generation offers turn-key installation of on-site electric generators for commercial members.
The project took about 12 months to complete and involved WH engineers, lineman and apparatus technicians and consultants.
The generator is a positive asset to Hy-Vee’s business and to WH members. WH is able to run the generator at Hy-Vee during times of peak power demand, thus reducing the amount of power used from the grid. This results in less power costs overall. In addition, Hy-Vee can use the generator as a backup source of power in the event of a power outage. Stores like Hy-Vee are at risk of losing inventory without power, so this protects their products.
Finding a generator that is just the right size and specs can be a challenge! WH coordinated shipping the generator from Texas to Minnesota, modifying the generator’s enclosure to be able to meet Minnesota weather conditions and fire standards, designing a switch gear building to transfer the load of electricity from WH to the generator, installing the generator and performing tests.
The new Hy-Vee is located at 18755 70th Way North in Maple Grove.
