Celebrating co-ops and the community

October is National Co-op Month, and Wright-Hennepin (WH) is excited to celebrate with the community. Cooperatives are different from investor-owned utilities because they are owned by you, the members. Member-owners who make up the co-op get a say in how WH is run through democratic member control. And with low rates, reliable service and capital credit refunds, there are many benefits to being a WH member.
National Co-op Month is a time to celebrate what being a co-op is all about. That is why WH held a member appreciation lunch on October 14, and the Fall Festival will once again happen in our warehouse at the end of the month.
Everything WH does is centered around our mission to deliver the power, products and competitive pricing essential for improving the quality of life of the members and communities we serve. We strive to bring this mission to life by achieving top 10 percent results in satisfaction, financial management, safety and reliability.
We are also guided by seven cooperative principles, which are guidelines for co-ops and are what make electric cooperatives different than investor-owned utilities. These principles focus on putting the needs of the members first and are integral to running and maintaining a co-op in the community.
WH is proud to be a part of this community for more than 84 years. Whether we are together in person or holding virtual events, WH will remain focused on serving the needs of you, the member-owners, and bringing you safe, reliable and affordable power for years to come.
