Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association (WH) held a ribbon cutting ceremony at its Howard Lake substation after a five-month project to rebuild and improve the substation located at the intersection of 70th St. and Keats Ave.

The process of rebuilding and expanding the substation began in May and was completed in November. Substations such as the Howard Lake substation are used to convert high voltage electricity from power plants into lower voltage levels suitable for distribution to homes and businesses.

“The Howard Lake substation rebuild will help WH bring reliable power in greater quantities to our members,” said Tim Sullivan, WH President and CEO. “During the rebuilding process, members experienced no disruptions to their power supply thanks to the precision work performed safely by our employees and contractors. By expanding and improving substations in our service territory, WH continues to deliver safe, reliable and affordable power to our members.”
